FAQs

What is your cancelation policy?
We understand that unexpected situations can occur. For first-time clients, refunds are not offered, but you may reschedule your appointment with at least 48 hours notice before your scheduled massage. For returning clients, we kindly ask that you provide as much notice as possible and reach out to your therapist to arrange a new appointment time.
Do I have to get fully undressed?
Do you provide "extras" or "additional services"?
NO!
At GLBM, we are committed to providing a professional, safe, and respectful environment for all clients and staff. Any requests for sexual favors, inappropriate comments, innuendos, advances, or behavior of a sexual nature will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Such actions will result in the immediate termination of your session, a permanent ban from all future services, and a formal report to the authorities. Proper draping is provided and required by law. Our priority is to uphold the dignity and safety of everyone at our spa.
What if I have athlete's foot, nail fungus, or a contagious skin condition? Can I wear socks, cover up, or you skip that part of my body?
NO!
1) This risks the health of your massage therapist and the cleanliness/hygiene of the studio. If I contract something like this, I am shut down until I’m completely healed. This could affect one of your favorite small businesses in a catastrophic way as well as everyone that was on my schedule.
2) If you come in with an infectious skin/nail condition, I’m required to disinfect the entire studio to eliminate the potential spread of disease. This can take me up to an hour and a half to do properly. This applies to ALL contagious skin and nail conditions.
3) Because of the cleanliness that I strive to provide each guest, this may affect the person coming in after you, which isn’t fair to them.
Nail Fungus and other contagious skin conditions are spread by skin to skin contact or touching something that has come into contact with the fungus/bacteria.
There’s a reason nail salons will refuse service to someone that has nail fungus, and why athlete’s foot spreads like crazy in locker rooms.
Studio Disinfection Fee – $50
If my actions cause someone else to reschedule their appointment, I will be charged 20% of the services they were booked for as a courtesy to them for the inconvenience.
My therapist will terminate my session upon the discovery of such conditions.
If this is a repeat offense, I may be terminated as a client at Great Lakes Barefoot Massage.
Add-ons, Tips, and Next Appointments
While not mandatory, it is customary to tip for the services provided by your therapist as a gesture of appreciation for their time, dedication, and skills.
Next Appointment: To stay on track with your wellness goals, it’s recommended to schedule your next appointment 4–6 weeks in advance. Consult with your therapist to determine the best massage techniques and add-ons to support your health journey.
Can I bring my significant other, children, or pets?
GLBM currently operates with one dedicated massage room designed to provide a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. While we understand the importance of significant others, children, and friends in your life, their presence during a massage can be distracting and is also prohibited by law.
Health Policy
At Great Lakes Barefoot Massage, prioritizing the health and safety of clients and staff is of utmost importance. All clients are required to verbally provide a health attestation prior to receiving any massage services. This includes confirming you do not have any contagious skin conditions, fungal infections, respiratory infections such as the flu, URIs, colds, COVID, or any other health concerns that may affect the massage experience.
Clients who fail to disclose such information prior to their appointment will be subject to a $50 disinfecting fee. Additionally, if the necessary disinfection procedures impact the time allotted for other clients, further charges may apply up to 20% of the other client’s invoice. In cases of repeated failure to comply with this policy, termination of the client’s relationship with Great Lakes Barefoot Massage may be enacted.
I appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping maintain a safe and hygienic environment for everyone.
